Hi Elmat, This is not a direct response to your post, but an indirect message to Haim.
The fundamental difference between Japan and China is that Japan is an export nation, whereas China is a continental scale economy. Japan bashing did not work too well, China bashing will make even less of a dent.
The lead car-maker lobbyist against China will be disadvantage, not only by the continuing competition, but the sourcing, as well as denial of market.
Levi Straus Jeans at one time (early/mid-90s) climbed on their moral high-horse and bashed China, terminating all contract relationships with Chinese supplier factories, earning an HBS case study. At the time I thought Levis was nuts, and now, with proof of time, in hindsight, they were, and are suffering for their earlier error.
China should be integrated by companies/nations into their schema.
