I do not think any of the aforementioned have any interest in "deciding what the moral standard should be". I certainly don't think I (or anyone else) should be in charge of setting moral standards for the community.

In my view, these are personal matters. You ought to be able to set your own moral standards. The problem is, of course, that when moral standards are flexible, and can change from day to day, the result is chronic moral decay. Which impacts everyone negatively.

Not that I think there is anything to be done about it.
