"However, I do not think that a tenuous relationship of the scruple to doctrine will do it, as in the Methodist example...........

Right. So, these ultra conservative types have been influenced by moral teachings or philosophies along their path in life and now have a strong ultra conservative values system. They don't have one single affiliation but do have the same values system. Some may be conservative Othodox Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus or whatever and others may be non-affiliated. Some may have grown up Methodist but identify with the more conservative outlook... even though they have not become members of different church. The mojo type services are respondent to that sensitivity and philosophically supported by a cross section of coherent doctrine from differing cultures societies and settings.

Karen and I had discussion for a couple of days on how someone would establish validity for their values standing. In a nutshell it is a long standing demonstration of the particular values structure across a variety of settings.
