Personal observation: I have no idea about the legitamcy of AIPN (actually, it does seems to have real potential in my view). My real doubt concerns the motivation of the author of the article. I don't think conspiracy is involved; I beleive its the 'big story' mentality. Remember, the press did NOT uncover the Bre-X story nor did it see others, such as the debacle with GIFS. In fact, concerning GIFS, I was the one who emailed the New York Times business reporter who eventually (within days) broke the story to the public. I'm sure the reporter took full credit for the story (I provided him with lots of references and a guide through SI - I've yet to receive one peep of gratitude from the guy) and I'm also sure the article was a nice resume enhancer since it so clearly underscored the deception possible on-line.

This WSJ article is a transparent attempt to attract the same attention, with the same goal of career advancement (the link to Bre-X - that's pathetic) - and it won't work. The idea of penny-stock internet chat group scams is passe. The author is plagiarizing the idea and almost plagiarizing the facts.

This one goes into the 'nice try' folder.

Best wishes,
Peter
