the issue of Somalia If you believe that the retreat in Somalia influences the way the Arabs think, then surely the retreat in Lebanon (by Ronald Reagan), and the abandonment of the Shiites following their 1991 revolt (by George Bush) must influence their thinking much more. After all, the Somalia intervention was simply a humanitarian mission with no strategic geopolitical stake for the US. Unlike the Lebanon and Shiite issues.
