On public radio this morning there was a discussion of the revival of "market timing" as opposed to buy and hold. I cannot understand the stubborn determination of those who confuse judging the real value of an investment with trying to time the market.

If you try to tell them that they are paying more for something than what it is worth, they say you are trying to time the market.

I guess seventeen years of positive reinforcement (1982-1999) is hard to overcome.

Maybe some years from now a lot of people will be saying, "just keep buying gold regularly; don't pay any attention to the current price, and you will come out fine."
