Congratulations Arnold. You're the Governor now.

Some notes on the election:

1. I was opposed to the recall because I think it puts too much power in the hands of a few people. I don't think that recall should be triggered unless there are crimes committed.

2. Davis has to take responsibility for enflaming the voters. The car tax was probably instrumental in the recall going forward. The anti-business climate did not help, especially when couched in this recession.

3. Democrats made a huge mistake by not running a candidate in the recall election that was electable. Clearly Bustamante was not someone that voters would get behind. I think it's clear that a moderate democrat could have taken this election. This virtually left the door open for the popular Arnold.

4. Arnold, with less experience in governing than groping, has his work cut out for him. If any of these gropees bring suit against him while he's governor, it will also probably mean another recall.

5. The recall election with it's shotgun wedding time schedule is unfair to the candidates and the voters. It comes down to charge and then counter charge, puke politics. What is truly amazing about this election is that the issues were rarely raised. Photo ops, balloons, hoopla were the main campaign tools. I think we can sum it all up as a circus that did not serve the good of the public.
