The EU is going to be copied, by 4-7 other regional groupings around the world. Little nations like Chad and Uruguay will find it impossible to negotiate a "level playing field" with the US and EU and China, they are far too small to be viable economic units, so they will eventually have to subsume their little nationalisms in a bigger regional nationalism. The groupings will grow, not based on conquest by a dominant tribe (= Imperialism), but based on negotiation and mutual needs. Nation-States will not disappear, but a bit of their sovereignty will leak upward, to the regional and global level, and downward, to provinces/states/localities.
