| The FBI and CIA worked very hard, yet independently to track down suspected Al Quaeda operatives in this country who were at that Maylasian meeting. The FBI agent in Phoenix who was concerned about the flight school training was turned down at higher level of incompetents in the FBI. That issue was never ever raised to the level of the White House period so suggesting Bush ignored warnings is preposterous. What did the Bin Laden family of 50+ individuals have to do with Al Quaeda. Are you suggesting they should have all been rounded up because of black sheep in their family? I'm glad we have Iraq. Think back to 1979 and the Islamic revolution in Iran. Iran would have been put in a headlock today if they tried to pull a stunt like that again. With a border and military bases near that country now, we don't have to be displayed as weak to the Muslim world again. Same goes for Syria and both those coutries WMD ambitions. In their culture, weakness is something to be exploited when demonstrated and these uncivilized maniacs want to die and take everybody else with them. The Japanese saw the US as weak and isolationist and that partly got us Pearl Harbor. The Japanese truely believed that the U.S. would do nothing if attacked! Hmmm seems to me Al Quaeda thought based on the 1979 hostage inaction, Vietnam pull out, Somalia pullout, Lebanon pullout, doing nothing about the USS Cole, the 1993 WTC bombings, the Kenya embassy, the Tanzania embassy that maybe they could destroy New York and Washington and yet once again the U.S. would do nothing, or maybe fire a few tomahawaks in retaliation like Clinton did. Hmm if the U.S. won't do anything, lets get some dirty bombs and put those in a dozen cities. |
