Todd: I agree with you. I've always thought that non-operating income was ignored in the earnings estimates/consensus. Based on this, AOL should have reported earnings of 6.6 cents (after their adjustments) as I explained in my earlier post:
techstocks.com

Regardless of how you slice it and dice it, the true story is:

Quarter Ending .................... June97 ..... June96

Total Revenues ................. $475,743 . $334,467 ........ UP
Cost of Production .............. 294,394 ... 183,619
Cost of Marketing ................. 97,081 ..... 66,839

Revenues less Costs ........... $84,268 ... $84,009 ........ FLAT

Gross Margin ......................... 18% ........ 25% ........... DOWN

Earnings (loss) per share ..... ($0.12) ..... $0.14 .......... LOSS
