mini madness 10/09/03 03:03 PM ET

Brad Sullivan of Group 6 Trading reports a 12,000 contract sale of S&P E-minis hit the tape at 2:13 p.m. EDT. A minute before, bids were around 1043-1043.50; a minute later it was as low as 1040.75 after this "extraordinary amount of E-minis" traded, he said. Thereafter, there was "follow-through selling at various levels," Sullivan reported, in attempting to explain the afternoon swoon.
