I didn't have a horse in this race. I didn't like the mechanism that would allow for a small minority of radicals nutsos with $1m to take a technicality and turn it into the governor's office.

I don't care for Davis, I don't care for Schwarzenegger either, I think all those who run for public office are in it for...themselves, their ego and their personal benefit. The idea of "public service" is baloney. They all have their hands in the till either during the time in office or soon thereafter. That's been proven time and again.

If the politico isn't corrupted in that sense (just being an average human really) prior to office, the office certainly corrupts them. My real beef is with the media because I think it's letting us all down. Watch a bunch of "news" programs on the same day. They all go after the same stories for 90% of their broadcast and generally come to the same conclusions with the same slant (neither liberal or conservative, just the same IMO).

It's interesting to see a program like Frontline which has the luxury of 1. not being too commercial and 2. having uninterrupted time (commercials are now 1/3rd of TV time and that doesn't even include informercials, waaaay up from even a decade ago) to go into depth on a single issue. Then it's interesting to read a newspaper or a magazine report on the same subject and see it in even more depth.

The news we generally get...sucks...it's at the level of a 16 year old and it's getting worse. It's pathetic that a 24-hour news organization broadcasts the same inane story time and time and time again instead of moving on to something else.

My rant for the day on this subject <g>
