Clinton did not invade Iraq. The UN inspectors did their job and did it well. UN inspectors were on the ground in 2003 and wanted to continue their work. There was nothing to indicate an imminent threat and no invasion was required. Despite making statements that we now know to be false to hype the case for war, Bush failed to rally UN support -- support that would have lent some legitimacy to an invasion -- because key countries like Russia, Germany, France, China and many, many others did not believe an invasion was necessary or wise -- and they were right. When the British discovered how badly they had been misled they turned against Tony Blair.
