DJ,
As far as market savvy goes, I make no pretense about having any. Luck has had almost everything do with it. The only thing I did do right, was, as you said, sell at $162. This was my first direct purchase in the stock market and was intended to be a learning experience. In that respect it has been successful. I've spent a great deal of time since then reading things on this site and about investing in general. Time well spent.
Since you said that you've read my postings I think that you would see that except for the last one, they've all been questions. The last one wasn't intended to be a boast, but instead a kind of answer to those WITH market savvy as to who the novice investor is in this case. I certainly didn't expect to see this happen to NSCP. I thought that it was a good company that over the years would grow pretty well. In the beginning I would have never guessed to be selling half my shares 5 months after I bought them and at triple what I paid for them. But all the hype and the pending Microsoft announcement(at that time), convinced me it was the prudent thing to do. Now I can learn my lesson, as it were, without the painfull loss of my initial investment.
Recently I've been thinking that it would be a good idea to get involved in some of the network hardware companies such as CSCO, BNET, and GANDF. No matter whose browser or server is used, you still need a router in there somewhere! Any thoughts along these lines?
Sincerely, Mark Skurla |
