Home Loan Banks Raise Fears; Losses Suggest Too Much Risk William: If interest rates rise dramatically and housing prices drop you could have a Japan type of banking crisis where the debt is worth more than the equity... I don't see either happening in the near future... On the other hand, fooling around with derivatives could snowball a manageable situation into something uglier... Jim
