compassion I thought compassion with regards to Rush came up when "liberals" were discussing the vehemence with which he advocated long jail terms for drug abusers, while at the same time being one himself. In other words when discussing Rush's lack of compassion -- and hypocrisy. If you feel compassion about Rush's need to ease his pain by abusing drugs, you ought to feel similar compassion for the vast majority of the drug addicts in this country whose addiction also started because they felt the need to ease overwhelming pain in their lives.
