Speaking of the Nobel Prize, reports are that the Pope has stomach cancer and may not make it through another month.

It would be nice, albeit somewhat empty symbolism, for him to make it through October 16, which is his 25th anniversary. Nevertheless, I am rooting for him. We all like those symbolic numbers.

I'd also like for him to make it to the beatification of Mother Theresa (October 15-23).

I trust he doesn't much care that he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize, given that Arafat got it. Oddly, enough, Arafat is reported to have . . . stomach cancer.

You can't make this stuff up, folks.
