Exactly who is pocketing all those "riches" from public schools? Is there anyone like Ken Lay taking a hundred million dollars? A million dollars? A hundred thousand dollars? Okay, maybe there is somebody out there who has taken tens of thousands from the school system somewhere. If so, he/she ought to be indicted. But this is apples and oranges. And most public schools and officials are public servants, many of whom deserve a raise, not your scorn.

In a span of about six months, the energy companies from Texas robbed California of over 20 billion dollars. Nationwide, the gouging was probably opver 50 billion. The whole time there was no real energy shortage. Proof? The week after Jeffords switched parties giving the Dems subpoena powers over Cheney and Company, there was an energy surplus. When Cheney and Co. had just told us that was impossible.

That compares to nothing ever except the S+L debacle. Both brought to us by mainly Republican deregulators. So the pigs could feast at the public troughs, corrupting politicians as they did so. It will happen again if we let it.
