Enron didn't even exist as we knew it during the Reagan years. What a crock. Clinton provided insurance. Big deal. Clinton didn't have a clue what Enron was really up to.

Bush and Lay were doing cash-for-policy deals for ten years in Texas. Made Grey davis look small-time. Once GW started running, Lay poured in more money than any corporation had ever given a candidate. 1.5 million cash plus oodles of extras. Private jets for free. Using the Enron corporate office as a quasi Bush campaign center. Hiring Ralph Reed as an "energy consultant". You name it. The fix was in.

So when Enron and others of their ilk decided to collude and gouge Americans for 50 billion in excess energy profits, Bush-Cheney not only looked the other way, but applauded it, and togther they hired new RNC chief Ed Gillespie to wage a 7 million buck TV ad campaign to blame the energy crisis on Democrats, and especially Grey Davis, who three years later they took out with the help of a famous movie star. Even more donations from the energy thieves came in to help Arnold.

The very same perps who caused half the California deficits benefitted from it in the end. Cheaters? yes. Big-time. Crooks? Absolutely. Indictable? Probably never since the pigs at the troughs control FERC, the SEC and the Justice department.
