Arnold won DESPITE being a Republican, not because of it. He was able to inspire many who will vote against Bush next year to either stay home or wing it and give him their vote. It was a very abnormal situation and was partically caused BECAUSE of the Bush economy, because of loss of jobs and benefits. But Davis was about as weak as they come. Never really defended himself. Way too mild-mannered. It remains to be seen how Arnold will govern, whether he can fix the problems or live up to his pledges. It also remains to be seen if he's a liberal, conservative or something inbetween.
