It seems that almost every mining company that ventures into Kazakstan ends up in a dispute with the gov't. You got Placer Dome, World Wide Minerals, KazGold and who knows will be next. This is not a very smooth start to entice Western mining companies into their country.

The Kaz gov't wants their cake and to eat it to. They want the Western mining companies money and expertise and once it is there, they trump up some legalities to throw a monkey wrench into things.

IMO the Western mining companies are going to take a very long look before venturing into Kaz territory.
