The GOP is trying to turn Arnold's victory into Bush's, but they are apples and oranges. No one voted for Arnold because he's a proven failure like Bush, they voted for him because he's a charismatic new face in politics whom they decided couldn't make things much worse, and might make them better. His party was irrelevant as it turned out. The swing vote ignored the fact he was a Republican.
