D'Souza is always worth a look.

D'Souza is making Kant's argument that since we have only our five senses to examine the universe with, we can never know what we may be missing. Therefore, "pure reason" can never tell us all about the universe. This was effectively used by theologians as proof of God.

The Irony is that "Critique" came out in 1776, during the highpoint of Enlightenment, The American Revolution.
