Canadian economy is booming, you don't hear about the U.S. jobs moving there from the media..one example is candy manufacturers because sugar is 30% cheaper in Canada.
But other jobs have moved there just for the reason of lower labor costs.

As far as Canadian standard of living goes that seems to be improving as i don't see as many people living in igloos as i used to -g-
