I think a train wreck is possible

You are in that part of "Red" California that is "Shocked, Shocked" at the outcome. I don't think the overall state is a Liberal as you may think. The Republicans shot themselves in the foot by insisting on "Social Conservative" candidates in the last years, instead of letting some through the primaries that were more socially liberal.

People in California will for for a Libertarian Conservative if they get on the Republican ballot.

You know you are in deep do-do there. The question is, will the legislature cave, or force deadlock. If they go for deadlock, Arnold will be in perfect position to control the Republican primaries in the spring and get some candidates nominated that can beat the Democrats in the fall. That will be the big test. If he brings in Murphy in the spring, it will get done.

If he doesn't control the primaries, the Republicans will run more candidates that spend their time talking about abortion, gays, and gun control. And the deadlock will continue.

Since I know the state so well, I will follow it as closely as you do.
