DDD AND SHARP SYSTEMS OF AMERICA ANNOUNCE RESELLER AGREEMENT
Sharp launches Actius RD3D Notebook PC in US

Santa Monica and Huntington Beach, Calif. (October 13th, 2003)¾DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD), the developer of 3D technology, today announced that it had entered into reseller agreement with Sharp Systems of America to resell Sharp's Actius RD3D notebook computer, the world's first 3D notebook PC based on Sharp's revolutionary new 3D "glasses-free" liquid crystal display.

From today, the Sharp Actius RD3D notebook is available for purchase in North America, priced at $3,299, and will be initially targeted at business and scientific applications ranging from CAD and other design applications, drug discovery, medical imaging, mapping/GIS, oil & gas, entertainment, advertising, broadcasting, electronic books and a vast array of other vertical markets.

The Actius RD3D represents a powerful next generation mobile graphics computing platform. Using Sharp's revolutionary switchable TFT 3D LCD technology, end users can view normal business documents including letters and spreadsheets in 2D and then simply switch on the screen's 3D viewing mode at the touch of a button for viewing enhanced interactive computer graphics, photographs and movies in 3D without requiring the user to wear any special glasses.

DDD's TriDef(tm) Movie Player, Photo Viewer and Visualizer software products are pre installed on the 3D notebook as part of Sharp's 3D multimedia bundle. Customers will also be able to purchase DDD's TriDef Photo Transformer software that converts existing 2D photographs to 3D for the creation of highly effective 3D Powerpoint® presentations.

A collection of nWave Pictures blockbuster 3D movie trailers are included on the Actius RD3D, including "3D Mania Encounter in the Third Dimension", "SOS Planet", "Alien Adventure" and "Haunted Castle". The feature length 3D versions are available to purchase.

Using TriDef Visualizer for OpenGL, Personal CAChe for Windows, a popular chemical molecular modeling package, was rapidly integrated with the 3D display capabilities of the Actius RD3D without requiring the application developer, CAChe Group, to undertake complex re-engineering of their software.

Greg Nakagawa, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Sharp Systems of America, said: "We are very excited about the partnership with DDD. They bring a unique understanding of 3D content and applications which is essential to developing the market for Sharp's 3D products. DDD has delivered some very practical solutions which help us address the varied needs of our customers while delivering very high quality 3D images."

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, added: "This is an important milestone in the development of mass markets for 3D . The new Sharp Actius RD3D notebook establishes a radical new price performance level for 3D displays by offering a complete package which can be used seamlessly in 2D or 3D. At $3,299, we have already received a great deal of interest in the notebook from our customers and we're already taking orders."
