Slob,

You have pinpoint the main issue with Cherry, but I think I can explain why these issues may not limit the future for Cherry.

The low sales per employee is driven by the low tech business units (swithes and assemblies). But Cherry has been doing the right thing lately by moving businesses overseas to emerging nations, Eastern Europe, Far East and very recently a new plant in Mexico. This will help justify the lower sales per employee and should expand margins.

More important is the Semiconductor Unit. They have been investing more heavily in it and it has a great future. Cherry Semiconductor is well repected in the industry. D.

P.S. Take a look at the Cherry Semiconductor homepage. There is no home page for the parent company.
