last,
On the subject of cabbage-head kids, beanie-dogs, etc. you might want to take a look at BLTI (Biolase technology). They, as appropriately named, in the bio lasers business. There are a few reasons to be interested in it: 1. "Cabbage-head" syndrom: BLTI is about to release (proj. September) a gadget called LaserBrush, which the plan to sell through TV home shopping channels, infomercials, etc. Judging how well the electrolitic bursh product did last year (a complitely worthless, scientifically speaking, product), this might be a hit (at least it has a potential to be a significant improvement when it comes to teath cleaning and has a catchy name - nothing to do with real lasers, though). 2. Dental Laser: You might remember the run Premier Laser had, when they got an approval ot sell their dental laser for cavity treatment in the spring (more then double in a couple of days). Premier had no sales or contracts at the time and a product with rather limited applicability. BLTI already had a similar product called Millenium (some refer to it as a laser, but it is actually a kinetc cutting system powered by a laser, which makes it much less invasive and potentially useful in a wider range of applications) at the time, which is approved for sale in Europe, which they are shipping to Germany under the contract of at least 12 a year, which gives them nice cushon and a potential for future growth. They have an application for approval of the product in the US on file with FDA and judging by the rate FDA works they might make a decision by the end of the year. If it is positive, the stock has a good chance to see the same rise as Premier, considering they are already manufacturing and selling it. 2. Other Product lines: The just got approved for a DermaLase, a general purpose dematological laser (not sure if it is a true laser or a kinetic system), with is supposed to be much more gentle on the tissues then a knife or currently used dermatological lasers (which makes me think its kinetic), which has a pretty strong potential, both in cosmetic and medical applications.
The stock has a pattern of coming back to the range after popping on announcements (Premier Laser and DermaLase were a couple). I think we might see a nice pop on the LaseBrush announcement and a potential run, if it actually takes off. The same could be said if Millenium gets approved, if it doesn't I think downside is limited, since I don't think Millenium in the US is currently factored into the price (take a look at the chart for May/June).
I currently hold no BLTI, although I made out very nicely on the day of the DermaLase announcemen, but plan getting back in before September.
