We were about the closest thing to a blog for the 2000 election, places like SI and Free Republic. I think the closest I can come to a name for us is an "Internet Discussion Group." I started it with the idea that I would "Blog" away, and if posters showed up, that would be fine. I now do what a lot of Bloggers do, scour the Net for good info, and instead of a link, I post the article.
