Real men are not drug addicts.

I know a real man who you would say is a drug addict.

He used to be an athletic star. Then he became a First Responder.

Then he came down with Hodgkin's disease. The doctor that treated him gave him chemotherapy and radiation therapy simultaneously. The drug the doctor used, bleomycin, is a well-known potentiator of radiation therapy. That means that radiation is multiple times as strong if you take it at the same time. It was malpractice.

It fried the blood vessels and nerves around his heart. He suffers constant pain, all day, every day. He can't walk very far without feeling faint, and if he keeps pushing, he turns white, faints and falls down.

He tried all the different things you read about in the paper, and more - all legal. The truth is that if you take strong narcotics every day you become addicted.

Anyway, he's a real man. A mensch. A good husband, a good father, a good son, a good friend. I admire him greatly.
