Doha (Platts)--15Oct2003

ExxonMobil will take 15.6-mil mt/yr of LNG from Qatar's
RasGas, the entire offtake from two proposed trains with a
capacity of 8.7-mil mt/yr in a 25-year sales deal to be signed
Thursday, well-informed sources said Wednesday.

An unnamed US company will be in charge of transporting
the LNG to the US while ExxonMobil will be in charge of
distribution in the US market, the sources said. The deal
follows a recent visit by Qatari oil minister Abdullah
al-Attiyah and is the first long-term gas sales deal by Qatar
to the US market. The proposed two trains will be the largest
in the world, raising production at the Ras Laffan Liquefied
Natural Gas Co Ltd (Rasgas) from 6.6-mil mt/yr currently to
23.2 mil mt/yr when the two new trains. Production from the
first train is expected in 2008 with project completion in 2009
when full capacity. Production from the second train will
commence two years later. ExxonMobil has a 25% stake in
RasGas while Qatar Petroleum holds 63%, Itochu Corp 4%,
Nissho Iwai Corp (Nissho Iwai) 3%, and Korea Gas Corp
(KOGAS) 5%.

Yes, there are only seven member bookmarks on this forum, down from nine a few weeks ago.
When you post here, nobody hears you. There are other forums more active in the discussion of natural gas issues. I don't currently own any Golar stock because I think the market has put too high a valuation on it. I'm more comfortable playing natural gas with E &P companies.
