| Dennis, thanks for the link to the story about Qatar and XOM. Identity of unnamed company to be responsible for shipping LNG cargoes remains a mystery. Checking back to an earlier slide presentation at Golar's web site, I found the slide that listed the names (and number of ships) of all LNG shipping companies. Only one is domestic, Louis Drefus which was swallowed up by Dominion Resources (D) awhile back. But Dreyfus was a very small transporting operation, and they were primarily an E&P company, not that Dominion itself isn't capable of expanding into ocean transport in a big way. However, I still believe that the unnamed company in the Platts story COULD be Golar. Even though it was a Norwegian company originally, now chartered in Bermuda, it is the only company publicly traded on a domestic exchange, NASDAQ, other than Dominion itself. So, that narrows down the possibilities to D or GLNG, or to an entirely new entity outside the current sphere of LNG shippers. Do you have any thoughts on the possibility of who the shipper might be? |
