As to your point that soldiers are young, I totally agree with you. Most soldiers in the world are young. Quite frankly, it's so obvious, that I missed this as being your point. I do apologize. This was not an intentional oversight.

Thank you. It looked like an intentional oversight.

Now do you care to posit an opinion on suicide bombers and whether their use is a valid military tactic

I don't know what "posit" means, but since you care so much for my opinion, I can't deprive you of it :-)

Re "suicide bombers" - I find it very sad that Palestinian civilians blow themselves up in order to kill Israeli civilians. No, I cannot agree with the killing of ANY human being ANYWHERE on this planet, belonging to ANY nationality. Whether it is in the hands of a soldier firing a gun (ex: Israeli killing Palestinian) or a civilian killing civilian (ex: Palestinian killing Israeli).

Yes, it is horrible that Palestinian civilians have taken to killing Israeli civilians. That is their (horrible) way of fighting the occupation. Lacking the resources to militarily combat the powerful Israeli army, Palestinians have taken to go for terrorist tactics.

It is horrible, I would stop it right away if I could. But I do understand why the suicide bombers are doing what they are doing - if your brother or father was just killed by a bullet from the occupying power that made your whole life miserable, you might also think it a good idea to kill yourself to hurt THEM. (And at that point, that this "THEM" you are hurting are innocent civilians might not be that disturbing to you)

Did you read about the latest suicide bomber, this young lawyer woman who blew herself along with tens of Israeli civilians days after her brother was killed in an Israeli raid? There's your case study.

To answer your question, no, suicide bombers cannot be a "valid military tactic". Nor is opening fire on unarmed kids, demolishing houses (with people still inside them, in some cases), and keeping a whole nation in military occupation. By the way, I think there is no declared war between Israelis and Palestinians so I am not sure if the rules of the game are "valid military tactic"s.

In short, I abhor suicide bombings and the tragedies they cause. Just like I abhor Israeli army killing Palestinians. Locked in hatred, it looks like both sides will continue to try to hurt each other, although it obviously means hurting themselves in the process.

Very sad, indeed.
