'Watershed' for music downloads Puretracks launch Robert Thompson Financial Post Wednesday, October 15, 2003 Puretracks.com, Canada's first legal online music service, was launched amid much fanfare yesterday, with record industry executives saying the service could prop up faltering sales caused by free downloading sites. The service, which as of yesterday was offering 175,000 tracks from a wide variety of artists, hopes to draw fans who want to download music legally.
