Here's a highly-detailed report written by two respected Russians listing in excruciating detail the difficulties and opportunities Russia will face from a nuclear-armed Iran.

Provides a very good background on Iranian nuclear efforts. In a nutshell, the experts suggest further Russian cooperation with Iran essentially because of economic reasons and because Iran has been instrumental in normalizing Islamic conflict in Russia. The US attempts to buy Russian cooperation are almost laughed at since the value of Iranian trade was much higher than the value of American inducements.

The Russians naturally suggest that Iran should agree to be monitored in exchange for Russia's nuclear assistance. I don't recall any discussion in the article of why one of the most energy independent states in the globe might be interested in alternative energy sources. Call me cynical..

Highly recommended reading. A good view of Russian thinking, which will be undoubtedly pragmatic as respects Iran.
