There I was....thought I was gonna die....

My Ex from about 8 years ago is visiting...
The Ex from Japan is en route to California on a 747...
My greatest hope for the future knocks on the door...
and who should call on the phone but the Ex from DC...the one that won't take no...

It was like a scene from a John Carpenter movie. Just when I thought everything was going right, all the Ex's show up at the same time as my prospective sweetheart....There was only thing to do....

I reached into the cellar and pulled out an '87 Ridge Lytton Springs.

I poured the chewy hazy zinfandel into BIG round goblets. The heady aroma filled the room with the deep earthy tones of a mature zin from a great year. Each of us took a sip and smiled as the expansive flavors filled our mouths. The old vines zinfandel, carignane, and grenache were inky in their youth, but have rounded out to a fat, smooth brick-colored mouthful. At 13.4% it took the edge off the razor blade tension in no time. The complex flavors from wild yeasts and a submerged cap fermentation invited introspection rather than recriminations...

It was a close call....speaking of which....the Ex from DC is still on hold...The Ex from Japan will be landing at SFO soon, and I only have two more bottles.
