Hiya Steve!
I've stuck (almost exclusively) with the semi small and microcaps this year and I have done very well. In fact, 2003 has been my best trading year with my trading portfolio up huge ytd. I'm in all cash in my trading port right now. I haven't had as much time to watch and trade the markets lately and I've been getting better at taking breaks when I don't see trading setups that I feel are relative "no-brainers". I also want to see where we end up at the end of earnings season. Since many of the stocks I have been trading are up 100s of percent off their lows, it's getting a bit harder to commit money to them without more fundamental confirmation of underlying business improvements to justify these run ups.
Most of the stocks I have been trading have soared and I've profited along the way. My main traders have been TWAV, FSII, PLXT, GGNS, AXTI, SYXI, ANAD, TQNT and KOPN. CAMP, AVCI and BKHM, while not exactly semi plays, have also been very good to me.
I figure I'll look to restart my trading next month, after I have a chance to sort through the earnings data.
Those are some nice returns, Steve. I setup a portfolio in March of some biotech (and medical/dental related) stuff and it's up 77% since. The list includes your TRIB, with ACAM, BLTI, HEPH, ISIS, NFLD, and SQNM. HEPH has lead the group, up 225% with NFLD "lagging" at up 12%. It was a model portfolio setup with $6200 and it's now worth $11,000. Unfortunately, I have only glanced at this portfolio every now and then, so I'm only watching it rise and not profiting by these moves.
How about those Cubbies! Losing 3 straight with the last 2 at home. Geez, what a choke...not to take anything away from the Marlins who played with youthful enthusiasm and clutch hitting. Everyone keeps making a big stink about the fan who tried to catch the ball but it was the error by the shortstop who really should be taking the blame, imo. He's paid big money and who knows where the game would have gone if he hadn't opened up the flood gates with his boot of an easy grounder. Typical of the media, picking on a fan and ignoring the professional who's paid to "do the right thing".
Oh well...wait 'til next year!!! Maybe we'll get the Cubs vs the W.Sox... We're still allowed to dream in Chicago, right? :) |
