That's why the U.S. doesn't elect Libertarians to office. Like it or not as a Libertarian, the U.S. ruling circles like being involved militarily in the world. It's good for business to have a strong military presence.

The U.S. probably wouldn't have cared about Hitler if it wasn't for the fact that he was making it impossible to do business in Europe and was threating to take over our parent country, Great Britain. The U.S. ruling circles have always maintained strong ties with their counterparts in England, despite the wars fought in the late 18th and early 19th century, and felt an obligation to come to their aid. Which is probably why FDR ignored warnings and indications that the fleet in Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked. He needed a reason to get us involved in WW2.
