How then would they have ended the war? Herr Hitler was not going to surrender. Remember, he did not commit suicide until Russian troops were within sight of the Reichschancellery.

As commented elsewhere, this is why Libertarians don't get elected: They refuse to let reality interfere with the purity of their principles. Many take that purity to the point where the state (if they allow such a thing) cannot have even police and courts. Citizens are supposed to hire private protection and privately pay judges to resolve disputes.
