You probably saw this Leonard Pitts column- I started to post it The Day SI Went Down (sounds like a song title) and couldn't so saved it because it mentioned the Abingdon Hospital situation.

And if some of its black employees are now wondering, as I did on that sidewalk a long time ago, how somebody can judge them without even knowing them, well that's probably the second most compelling question here.

The first is this: Why did the people who did know them not stand up for them?


It made me think of that much heard story about if you don't stand up for others, who will be left for you?
I missed that point until I read this column. I was quick to judge the hospital, but failed to think about the individuals who went along.. and I wonder if I would have had the nerve to say something.
