The temptation to go after him is well nigh irresistable, though.

I haven't been at all tempted to go after him, but neither do I feel any noticeable sympathy for him. When people set themselves up as holier than thou, it's hard to make excuses for them. Let the bleeding hearts and the religious understand him and make excuses for him and forgive him. I expect responsible behavior from everyone, especially folks who make a living preaching about it.
