I've been watching the Terry Shiavo case.

I was peppered with questions about that over lunch. And this from the guy who holds my medical power of attorney. He was outraged about it. I didn't know enough about it to hold up my end of the conversation. So I poked my fork into things on his plate, just so that he wouldn't fall behind, of course...

I don't think of Pitts as particularly (extremely, overly) sensitive, yet this obviously did resonate for him.
I understand that. I guess I'm just at the point now, after fighting that fight for so long, that I don't want to follow the same old dance steps any more. They've become cliche.

Of course, such a scenario wouldn't be "about me" so I'd have to look to my non-white colleagues for direction in case they didn't so easily brush it off. I'd have plenty to say in any post mortem of the situation, though.
