Rink...Analysts expect, on average, for AMD to lose 6 cents a share on sales of $1.01 billion."

Rink, it is situations like this that make it advantageous for investors like us who see the great potential. It gives us time to solidify our positions or make new ones. The larger ASPs that the 64 bit processors provide could make this an extraordinary quarter. I am still amazed at how much the small amount of 64 bit processors provided to the bottom line in the 3rd quarter. At least that is my guess since AMD didn't provide any specifics on the numbers of processors sold.

Another weird thing: Shankar says AMD could have sales of 1.1B, yet his estimates are for only 8 cents a share. Since AMD says breakeven is about 1B, incremental revenue and expense increases should still put that at well over 20 cents a share.

Does anyone remember when the Athlon first came out and AMD was issuing mid-quarter updates to let the analysts know their estimates were too low? About what time frame were those updates actually given? That is when to anticipate the next big move is my guess.
