We have that Fugs album - I think we have four, the first three and maybe the live album. We definitely have the one with "Saran Wrap." They're funny.
But the sex is joyous, there's no violence, no rape, no prostitution, no boasting about going to prison. No celebration of robbery and murder. Very different from misogynistic violent ghetto music.
I am a big fan of so-called "black music" or "Devil's music" going back to the 19th century, starting with ragtime, through blues (especially blues), rhythm & blues, jazz, rock, soul, Motown, etc. I even like a little bit of rap, e.g., the Beasty Boys (but they're white).
This is something completely different. It's not soul, it's soul-killing. |
