It is not meant to put a person on the moon. However, it is largely credited with having stopped the slave trade (through the influence of English Methodists and Quakers), with forming the cultural matrix of capitalism (see Max Weber), with educating the working classes (all those sisters in all those Catholic schools), and with providing a safe haven for newcomers to our shores (all those neighborhoods where the church or synagogue was the center of community life)..........
