With God on Our Side

That's fine for the paper, but the left attacks him at their own risk. His remarks are right on line with the evangelical movement, especially the Fundamentalists among them. Bush will protect him, IMO. "General Jack Ripper" may seem appropriate, but it won't sell to the religious right. "Gott mit uns" is a big seller during a war. "Signs and portents," such as he describes seeing over Mogadishu are big in Evangelical land.

People forget that when Roosevelt was President, and announced D-day on the radio, he asked the audience to get on their knees and pray for victory. I remember the broadcast.

The Post is afraid we might offend the Muslim world. But the media feels free to kick Christians around. I find it really ironic that a militant Atheist like me is coming to the defense of these people. But it is such an obvious political "Gotcha" I feel compelled to.
