Baptist Health completes purchase of Doctors Hospital BY JOHN DORSCHNER jdorschner@herald.com For a final price of $115 million, Baptist Health has announced that it has completed its purchase of Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables from HealthSouth. The formal transfer of ownership was to take place at midnight Thursday. Baptist Health Chief Executive Brian Keeley said the facility would continue to be a full-service hospital. ''Nothing will significantly change about the day-to-day operations,'' he said in a prepared statement. Most of the staff, including Doctors Chief Executive Lincoln Mendez, will continue with the hospital, and Baptist said it plans to hire 65 more nurses to staff the Coral Gables facility on University Drive. ''We welcome them,'' said Coral Gables Mayor Don Slesnick. ``They've always been good neighbors, and they get behind charities in our city.'' .
