I would only add most of the film houses are owned by movie companies, so getting first run movies is a dream if you're a private movie house owner

Not in American, Mike. They broke the Monopoly in the 40s and made the Movie Manufacturers sell off the Theatres. That is what caused the end of the Studio system.
