Let's not. There is nothing about Saudis that I like. And in fact Saudis do not have much of a reputation among many Arabs either. For the most parts their culture is stuck in a different millennia. And it was not a good millennia to begin with. The core of middle east is made of 4 cultures: Arabs, Israelis, Turks, and Iranians. Any discussion of life in ME must include all 4 and not just Arabs. Even when discussing Arabs, you cannot just pick the worst example you can find and extrapolate based on that. There are significant differences between Moroccans and Egyptians, between Lebanese and Saudis, between Algerians and Iraqis, etc, etc.

The kinds of self congratulatory broad brush comment that Foxlette made is just as cartoonish as the kinds of beliefs I got in Thailand when people heard I was from New York.
