Oak, yes it seemed to good to be true when I first heard about it, too. Closest thing to a competitor I've been able to find is a large Canadian forest products company, Tembec. They take some of their black liquor and convert it to a useable resin -- but in their process they ADD formaldehyde to it(!).

If you scan through all the posts in this area I think you may find some other reflections on the competition issue.

My thought at the moment is that their main competition is the petrochemical resin industry -- which makes the toxic resins that are currently used. They are entrenched, after all.
